Is it safe to travel to Canaima?
Yes. Canaima has always been a safe destination, even during Venezuela’s most challenging times. It’s a remote area, free of social or urban conflict, and travelers from all over the world have visited Canaima for decades to see the majestic Angel Falls. Today, Venezuela is much more stable overall, and Canaima remains one of the most peaceful, authentic, and magical places in the country. Tours are run by local operators and professional Pemón guides who are friendly, responsible, and fully committed to your safety and experience.
What if it rains or the weather changes suddenly?
In Canaima, Mother Nature has the final say. If there’s heavy rain, high river levels, wind, or fog, guides may adjust the itinerary for safety reasons. Do I need vaccines or medical requirements to visit?
Nope. There are currently no mandatory vaccines required to enter Canaima. Some websites still mention yellow fever, but that’s an old recommendation and it is no longer enforced. If you have specific health concerns, feel free to check with your doctor or reach out to us—we’ll be happy to guide you.
Is the Angel Falls tour physically demanding?
In general, the tour is suitable for people in basic health and mobility, but some parts can be more challenging for older travelers or those with knee issues. For example:
• The curiara river journey can last several hours, sitting on wooden benches.
• The hike to the viewpoint is optional, but it involves roots, rocks, and a final incline.
• There are non-hiking alternatives, such as staying at the camp or taking a flyover.

Can I bring a drone to Canaima?
Yes, you can—but you must register it in advance with INAC (Venezuela’s National Civil Aviation Institute), even if it’s a small drone like the DJI Mini 3. While no license is required for lightweight recreational drones, registration is mandatory to legally bring it into the country.
The process is not difficult, but it can be slow and frustrating, since the official registration system (SIRPA) is not very user-friendly. Once registered, we recommend printing several physical copies in case the airline, customs, or airport staff request them.
Sometimes no one asks for it… but we’ve also seen drones confiscated. So, better safe than sorry. If you’ve already booked with us, we can handle the registration process for an additional fee.
